Franklin College Virtual Lab

Client Browser Requirements

The Franklin College Virtual Lab are managed using VMware Horizon View. Before you access one of the Virtual Labs, you must first connect via the HTML client (through your web browser) or install a client on your computer or device. Both options are available through the Virtual Labs login page:
To use the Franklin College Virtual Labs with the HTML client, you must have one of the following Web browsers:
  • Chrome 28 or later
  • Internet Explorer 9 or later
  • Safari 6 or later
  • Mobile Safari on iOS devices running iOS 6 or later
  • Firefox 21 or later
To use the Franklin College Virtual Labs with the standalone client, you must either download the specific client for your operating system through the link on the landing page or direct from VMware's web site.

Server Information

When using the standalone client, you will be prompted to enter the server to connect to - although both servers connect to the same place, you must use the appropriate one for if you are on campus or off-campus. The standalone client will let you add multiple servers, so you'd just need to select the correct one depending on where you are connecting.

Connecting USB Flash Drives

To access a drive from a virtual lab computer, connect it to the USB port on your computer. Once you are logged into a virtual lab on the system, select “Connect USB Device” from the menu bar at the top of the screen. A list of attached USB devises will drop down, select your device. The drivers will then load and the USB device will be accessible as a drive under "Computer".

Saving Items

Make sure that you save any files to a flash drive or OneDrive, as any information saved on a virtual desktop will be deleted upon logout.
